Preceding projects were already conducted since 2004 by the HLNUG within the Integrated Climate Protection Programme Hesse 2012 (background information) of the Hessian Environmental Ministry.

The projects were based on former climate projection data:

  • Reports concluded up to 2005 used the global climate model ECHAM4 and the regional model WETTREG2003, based on the SRES-scenario B2.
  • Reports concluded in 2008 and 2009 used the global climate model ECHAM5, the regional model WETTREG2006 and in parts REMO, based on the SRES-scenarios B1, A1B und A2. (Winter precipitation in the WETTREG2006 simulations is disproportionally high, in particular towards the end of the 21st century. This model deficiency was resolved through the model version WETTREG2010.)
